Updated October 20, 2026. Choosing an Ireland wedding venue starts with how you want the celebration to feel. A castle ceremony, a country-house weekend, a garden dinner, or a small gathering with your closest people can each need a very different kind of space.

This guide brings together twelve venues in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, with official wedding links and questions to help you compare them. Our notes are a planning shortlist, not a claim that we have photographed every property. The photographs throughout this guide show our own work at Castle Leslie Estate in County Monaghan.

Start with the weekend you want to experience

  • Choose a working guest count before comparing spaces. Ask about minimum numbers as well as maximum capacity.
  • Decide whether you want one wedding day or a welcome celebration, wedding, and day-after gathering.
  • Compare indoor ceremony and portrait options alongside the outdoor spaces.
  • Ask what exclusive use means in writing: the whole property, selected rooms, accommodation, or only the event spaces.
  • Request the complete venue quote, including accommodation commitments, catering, drinks, staffing, setup, and any additional event days.

Use our Wedding Planning Studio to organize your ideas, then compare your shortlist with the five questions to ask before booking a wedding venue.

Planning a smaller wedding or elopement in Ireland

Start by telling the venue your actual guest count and the parts of the day you want to host. A property that welcomes small weddings may still have different minimums, room requirements, or available spaces depending on the date.

Hilton Park and The Carriage Rooms are useful starting points for an inquiry about smaller celebrations. Ask each team to confirm the ceremony setting, meal, accommodation, privacy, and total cost for your plans. A couples portrait session also needs permission from the property; visitor admission does not automatically include a private photo session.

Make the venue work for your photographs and film

  • Ask to see the indoor alternative during your viewing. Look for space for your guest count, family photographs, and the ceremony you want.
  • Build travel between venues into the timeline. Confirm where vehicles can stop and how guests with access needs will move through the day.
  • Ask when you can enter the getting-ready rooms and when suppliers can begin setup.
  • Check restrictions on sound, candles, confetti, photography, and filming. Drone coverage depends on permission and safe conditions.
  • Leave time together after the ceremony without filling every minute with portraits. A short, well-planned portrait window can leave more of the day for your people.

Questions couples ask about Ireland wedding venues

How much does an Ireland wedding venue cost?
Request a quote for your date, guest count, and events. Compare the same inclusions across venues, including taxes, catering, accommodation commitments, drinks, staffing, and day-two costs. This guide does not publish unverified venue price ranges.

Does exclusive use include overnight accommodation?
It depends on the contract. Ask which rooms and buildings are included, how many nights are required, who pays for guest rooms, and which spaces remain shared.

Can we plan from abroad?
Ask about video tours, planning calls, supplier access, and a written schedule. Choose your arrival plan with time for travel delays, settling in, and any appointments you have arranged.

Should we choose the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland?
Start with the venue and guest experience you want, then confirm the arrangements that apply to that location. Castle Leslie, Hilton Park, Tankardstown, and Ballymagarvey are in the Republic of Ireland; the remaining venues in this shortlist are in Northern Ireland. For a legal ceremony, confirm requirements directly with the relevant registrar.
